To the mine, not the country

Excellent Facets is committed to the ethical sourcing of natural diamonds, building long-term relationships with suppliers and customers based on transparency and trust. Every diamond we supply is traceable to its specific mine of origin, not just the country. Our sourcing is restricted to a strictly approved list of 26 mines, including Diavik and Ekati, and we do not source from Russia, Belarus, Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo, or Zimbabwe. For all diamonds we manufacture from rough, the Kimberley Process Certificate number is recorded on the sale invoice.

Rough procurement

We prioritize the shortest possible supply chain. First, direct purchase from mining-company tenders. We are approved customers of Okavango Diamond Company, De Beers Auctions, Rio Tinto, Petra, Gem Diamonds, Lucara, Mountain Province, KAO, and Burgundy, with separate registration at Bonas tenders in Antwerp. Where direct tender purchase is not possible, we buy from De Beers DTC sightholders or partners with a dedicated rough supply from a mining company. Otherwise, we source from RJC-certified manufacturing companies, always prioritizing the shortest supply chain.

Polished procurement

Polished diamonds are sourced only from De Beers DTC sightholders or trusted, RJC-certified manufacturers, audited to maison standards, with mine-of-origin details shared with our clients.

Audited to maison standards

Mine of origin is recorded and shared via the iTraceiT blockchain, along with supporting documentation. In collaboration with the Aura Blockchain Consortium, our provenance data is structured to feed the Digital Product Passport, in line with current and forthcoming EU regulatory frameworks. Diamonds are tracked internally through RightClick ERP, with a perfect inventory-management score in our most recent maison-ordered audit. We are conducting trials on atomic-level diamond scanning (DiaDNA), a fundamentally new technology that records each stone’s unique internal fingerprint while still rough and matches it to the polished result, extending verifiable proof of origin down to melee.
